Two great
things are happening in the
month of August. First, Angie
and I are going to State College
for the National Autism
Conference. My mom and Angie's
Mom are coming down to watch the
kids so that Angie and I can
attend the 5 day conference. Our
days will be filled with
knowledge cramming and hopefully
we will be able to apply much of
it to help Shane. I am sure we
will make some good contacts as
well. We will have our evenings
free (I think) which we are
really looking forward to. I
know it sound far short of what
you deserve but THANK YOU MOMS!
The other great thing that is
happening is vacation. We will
be spending 5 days in Erie to
see family. I believe the whole
family will be there including
my bro, our soon to be
sister-in-law and newborn nephew
Daniel Floyd Piazza.
In other news Angie resigned
from being the children's
director at our church. Our
family was really suffering
because of the demands she had
to meet. She did not want to
resign but knew she needed to for
the families sake. I know it was
hard for her but I think we both
are much less stressed and have
been able to have quality family
time again. Angie is however
working for the Early
Intervention Unit. This job is
about as flexible as they come.
As a nurse she visits children
with disabilities or nutritional
needs in their homes. She is able
to make her own hours, decline
clients or accept them. This job
will help financially and will
allow us to control her work
load. Praise God He has provided
this.
Shane will be attending the
Lincoln Intermediate Unit in
the fall. This is essentially a
preschool for children with
disabilities. The teachers are
trained to work with disability
children and
will be helping him to talk and
develop those areas he is weak
in . Three days a week he will
go to the LIU for a few hours.
We are so excited about this
because we believe it will be
very good for Shane. Plus it
allows mommy to be a part from
Shane for a bit which she needs.
Shane will start in the fall,
probably early September.
Luke will be going to kindergarten
this year which really makes
three great things happening in
August. It is an all day
kindergarten so we are curious
to see how he fares. He is a
smart kid but has never been in
a structured environment for
that long. He is excited about
it but is also nervous. We keep
reassuring him. |
